Cambodia is a small country with a modest economy and limited military capacity. Having endured great suffering and tragedy from past wars, our people deeply understand the value of peace. History teaches us that our tragedy unfolded, when Cambodia was torn apart by geopolitical rivalries. We do not seek conflict with any nation. What we truly need—and are firmly committed to—is peace, stability, and cooperation with our neighbors for the development and well-being of our people.
Concerning the recent border conflict with Thailand, we sincerely call for the assistance of neutral third parties—such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations (UN) and the Security Council, ASEAN, and others—to help mediate and facilitate a peaceful resolution. Cambodia believes that only through dialogue, mutual respect, and international cooperation can long-term peace and security be achieved for both countries.
