In Boeng Tranh Khang Cheung Commune, Samraong, Takeo Province, where many families now rely on garment factory work and grow rice mainly for self-consumption, Farmer Nop Sovann was struggling to improve the productivity of his small rice fields. He owns 0.2 hectares beside his home and another 0.4 ha ares further away, where he cultivates local varieties such as Pong Lolok and Krohom Tngun.
